Zakaria “Zack” George Hassen, 74, or Rock Hill, SC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Antioch United Methodist Church, 930 West Rambo Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29730 with the Reverend Ron Fite officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and at other times at the family’s home.
Zack was born in Jerusalem, Israel on February 23, 1948. He was the son of the late Mohammed and Fatimah Hassen. When he arrived in America he was adopted in love, by O’Neill and Mildred Champion. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
Zack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Bishop Hassen, Sons: Michael Hassen (Tabitha), David Hassen (Donna): Daughter, Heather Whitley (Josh): brother, Yahia Hassen (Pat): and eight grandchildren: Caleb, Carson, Cameron, Gunner, Mary Michayla, Hallie, Millie, and Evan.
Zack was a dedicated and loyal family man beyond description. Just shy of 11 days, he and his wife Judy would have celebrated 48 years of marriage. They were the epitome of what commitment looks like and modeled it beautifully for their children. Together they built a wonderful life and created a stable and loving home. Zack’s amazing legacy will now live on forever in his children and grandchildren.
Zack was no stranger to hard, honest work, that began as a young child and continued right up until the end of his earthly life. He had a superb work ethic and a drive to be the best provider he could possibly be for his family.
In his young adult years, he spent countless hours on his John Deere farm equipment farming the most beautiful fields of soybeans, wheat, and cotton. It was during these years that life on the farm provided his family with some of the sweetest memories ever made.
After farming he made a career change in Auto Sales where he specialized in Cadillacs. Clients would come from all over to buy their car from him because they knew he would treat them with kindness and take great care of them. Year after year, throughout every place of employment, his name covered the walls with numerous awards for Salesman of the month. He truly was gifted and had such an ability and a way with the public.
Zack was well known for his spirit of giving. He had the most selfless heart. His life’s mission was to help others. If he had it and you needed it or wanted it, then he gave it…just that simple. He would go to great lengths to give to others. Giving was his love language and he spoke that language so eloquently.
If Zack wasn’t working, you could find him at home spending time with his family, where he was most content with the life he had been given. You could always find him on his big Kubota lawn mower keeping his property in pristine condition. More importantly, you could find him pouring into the lives of his grandchildren whether it be feeding them one of his amazingly cooked meals, riding four wheelers or simply watching a classic western on the Western Channel. “Tata” as they all called him, always put them first and his entire world orbited around them. Each of them possesses so many of his outstanding qualities.
As for his three children, he never stopped being a hands-on parent, no matter how old they got. He was well respected and highly thought of as a man who loved their mother well, raised them with high standards and clean morals, and always pushed them to aim high, work hard and push forward no matter what.
Zack was a blessing to all who had the joy of knowing him. There will forever be a missing piece where he once was, here on Earth. His life and beautiful memory will last forevermore as we smile and remember that we were truly blessed with the very best in a husband, Dad, and grandfather.
