Yvonne (Saylor) Norwood

Yvonne Saylor Norwood, age 72, of Dallas, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Maranatha Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056. The funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation with Pastor Jeremy Burrell officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Dr, Gastonia, NC.

Yvonne was born on November 24, 1953, in Gastonia, NC. She was the daughter of the late James Dorsel Saylor and Jewell Fugate Saylor. Yvonne was a member of Maranatha Church of God and attended awesome preaching on Sundays and excellent bible studies on Wednesdays.

Yvonne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Monte Gene and Gaye Saylor, sister-in-law Marlene Saylor; in-laws, Major and Kim Norwood and Roy and Robin Norwood, and many precious nieces and nephews. Also, her extended family and close friends: The Robbins and Mack families, Lisa Allen, Jan Green, and Deb Wilson.

Yvonne loved working in the yard, especially cutting grass. She felt the greatest invention ever was the zero-turn lawn mower. Yvonne also enjoyed crocheting, and everyone’s favorite Christmas gift from her was her dishcloths. She also started the Saylor Christmas Eve tradition of bingo and never forgot a birthday. Her goodnight texts will be missed greatly.

In addition to her parents Yvonne was preceded in death by her siblings; Peggy Sue Saylor and Timothy Saylor along with her beloved pet Odie. In memory of Yvonne Norwood, memorials may be made to Maranatha Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056.
