William "Bill" Edward McKown, Sr.

William Edward “Bill” McKown, 63, of Hickory Grove, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

Born on August 31, 1962, in Rock Hill, SC, Bill was the son of Jim McKown and the late Annie Currence McKown. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rob McKown.

Bill dedicated his career to plumbing, working for many years in both residential and commercial fields. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors—especially deer hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water. Most of all, Bill cherished the moments he shared with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving son, Billy; his father, Jim; his brothers, Kenny and Doug; his faithful companion, Cathy; and his loyal fur friend, Mattie.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church of York. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in the church parlor.
