William Fairley Saunders, Sr.

William Fairley Saunders, Sr., 83, of York, SC passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday August 1, 2022, at Bratton Funeral Home.

William was born on May 25,1939,in Catawba County, NC. He was the son of the late William Pritchard Saunders and Martha Barber Saunders as well as the widower of Anita Meeks Saunders. He was a retired truck driver and a former member of Gastonia Fire Department #3.

William is survived by his son William F. Saunders, Jr. (Michelle) of York, SC, his daughter, Tessie Ann Saunders Blackwell (Scott), of York, SC; his grandchildren Shaina, Matthew, Amanda, Huey, Tina, and Michael ,16 great grandchildren, and his sister Karen Hicks of Stanley, NC.  In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by his siblings Larry Saunders and Glenda Fisher.
