William Cauthen Obituary

William Bill Davis Cauthen, 86, of Shelby passed away at home on Thursday, February 18th, 2021. He was born October 6, 1934 in Charlotte, NC to James Heath and Frances Clarke Cauthen. He attended Charlotte schools before his family moved to Matthews, and graduated from East Meck High School. Bill attended N.C. State University, where he studied engineering before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He began his career at R.H. Bouligny, before becoming a sales manager at Duff Norton Corporation, and finally starting his own firm, from which he retired in 1999. He was a member of Matthews United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, June B. Cauthen; daughter Frances Lemcke, her husband, Rich and grandchildren Anna and Will of Salt Point, New York; his brother, Clarke and wife, Martha, of Indian Land; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite cat, Nancy, who will especially miss getting spam off the grill. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC, with Pastor Tim Ware officiating.
