Violet (Faris) McKinney

Mrs. Violet Faris McKinney, age 76, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nick Setzer officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1174 Filbert Hwy, York, SC. A reception following the burial will be held at the Latta House, 7 S. Congress Street, York, SC.

Violet was born on January 30th, 1949, in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late James Burton Faris and Ruby Pruitt Faris of Clover, SC. She was the beloved widow of Roger McKinney. Violet grew up and attended school in Clover, SC. Throughout her working years, she was employed by Springs Carpet Factory in York, SC, and later by York School District One in the maintenance department. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in York.

Violet is survived by her sisters-in-law, Brenda Brandon (Jim) and Brenda McKinney (Harlon); nieces, Jeannie Durham (Allen), Kim Hale (Barry), and Kellie Harrold (Greg); nephew, John Wine (Kathy); and cousins, Judy Falls, Peggy Falls, Wayne Wallace, and “Tot” Pruitt.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Violet was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Yvonne Faris.
