Obituary

YORK – Thomas “Ralph” Hammond, 91, of York, SC, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 19, 2021 with his wife, Sandra Ragsdale Hammond, by his side.

Ralph was born on February 14, 1930 in Anderson County, SC.  He was the son of the late Haskell Hammond and Paunee Holiday Hammond.  Ralph was a US Army Veteran before working with Duke Energy for many years. After his retirement from Duke Energy as a crane and heavy equipment supervisor at Catawba Nuclear Station, Ralph became a full-time integral part of Rainbow Acre Stables, where they offered training, boarding and riding lessons. Ralph’s love for the American Saddlebred Horse and his stallion, Rainbow’s Sensation, was widely known in the horse community.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Sandra Ragsdale Hammond, son-in-law, Gary Bell, grandson Parker Bell, sister, Laura H. Phillips, and his nephew, Mike Phillips (Vickie).

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Dorothy “Lynn” Hammond Bell.
