Ms. Thelma Mae Hildreth Carpenter, age 91, of York, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at White Oak Manor of Rock Hill, SC.
Thelma was born on January 12, 1935, in Lanesboro, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Julius Sebern Hildreth and Marjorie Broadaway Hildreth. Thelma devoted her career to caring for others, working as a caregiver with the York County Department of Disabilities. She was a faithful member of Kings Mountain Chapel Methodist Church in York, SC.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Vicky Yvonne Carpenter; her son, Larry Scott Carpenter; her grandchildren, Randi Eitzman and Adam Eitzman; and her great-grandson, Zander Eitzman. Also surviving are her sisters, Virginia Holloway (Martin) and Jewel Deese.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her baby girl; Sonya Carpenter, her siblings; Ernest Hildreth (Myrtle Lee),Coy Hildreth, Laura Pope (Ken), Mildred Johnson (Bo), Harrell (Marjorie), Sylvia Jean Hildreth , Clayton Hildreth, and Linda Hildreth along with her brother-in-law, Michael Deese.
In memory of Thelma Carpenter, memorials may be made to Kings Mountain Chapel Methodist Church, 1130 Philbeck Road, York, SC 29745.
