Mr. Stanley Garwood Minson, age 90, passed away peacefully at Westminster Health & Rehab in Rock Hill, SC on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Born in Richmond, VA; on June 15, 1934, Stan was the son of the late James Edward Minson, Jr. and Juanna Bryant Glenn. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Following his time in the military, Stan attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he met his future wife, Dineen Cynthia Noell. She preceded him in death in 2017, after 55 happy years of marriage.
Stan’s work in the meat marketing business brought the couple to the Charlotte region in the 70’s. He later earned a degree in Criminal Justice from USC-Union. He was employed with Duke Power/Energy at Catawba Nuclear Station from 1982 until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure there, he was a Dayshift Security Specialist and was promoted to Security Shift Supervisor in 1998.
Stan and Dineen joined Tirzah Presbyterian Church in 1976 where both served in many capacities including elders, deacons, and choir members. Stan will be lovingly remembered by his church family for sharing the gift of his rich baritone voice in worship.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, 180 Tirzah Rd., York, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverview Hospice and Palliative Care, 2450 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
