Sonya (Hagood) Downey

Mrs. Sonya Hagood Downey, age 53, of Clover, SC, passed away on June 10, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus County, Concord, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon on June 20, 2026 at her daughter Jeanea Goforth’s Home. For directions, please call or text 803-610-3877. They request participants not wear black, but instead wear purple or your favorite sports team’s color.

Sonya was born on September 26, 1972 in Decatur, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Jerry Charles Hagood and Martha Alexander Mayfield.

She is survived by her children; Brittney Weeks, (Bradley), Jeanea Goforth (Zachary), Nicholas Downey, and Justin Downey (Shelby) along with her grandchildren; Nolan, Avery, Raini, Addy, Harper, Emmy and Jackson.  She is also survived by her brothers; Christopher Ledlow and Grady Ledlow (Stacy), and also by “Granny” Mattelene Long who raised her as her own.
