Shirley Mackins Starr, 73, of Clover, SC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
The family will have quiet time on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 1:30 to 2 PM at Mount Caramel Holiness Church of God, 517 Kings Mountain St. Clover, SC 29710. The funeral service will start at 2:00 PM at the church with Associate Minister Jeffrey Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Community Cemetery.
Pastor Shirley was born on February 6, 1949 in Kings Creek, SC. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Lee Mackins and Alberta Oglesby Mackins. She worked in textiles and as a caregiver but her true passion was serving the Lord. Shirley was a Pastor at Mount Caramel Holiness Church of God in Clover, SC where she touched a many of lives.
Pastor Shirley is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Willie Hue Starr a.k.a. “Qball”, children: Sharon Peay (James), Shelisa Lytle (Andre), DeAngela Starr, Vince Starr, Tiffany Monique Starr; step-son, Wilford Barnett, and God-daughter, Elizabeth Schrouder. She was also survived by her sisters, Bertha Watkins, Aleen Fewell, Louise Allison, brother, Alvin Mackins (Sarah); grandchildren Candice Carter, Ashton White (Paris White), Erica Starr, Brittany Massey, Antion Carter, Demorris Starr, Dominique Starr (Selena Starr), Tremaine Watson (Step Grandson), Vonnquia Asbury (Step Grand-daughter), Quashanda Robbins and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Pastor Shirley was preceded in death by her sons, William “Will” Demorris Starr, Howard Lynn Starr, brothers, Jimmy, Dennis, and Johnny Mackins; and brothers-in-law, Howard Fewell and Norman Allison.
