Roy Baxter Carter

Mr. Roy Baxter Carter, age 79, of York, South Carolina passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

A memorial service to celebrate Roy’s life will be at McConnells First Baptist Church, 4189 Chester Hwy, McConnells, SC 29726 at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026, officiated by Pastor Greg Zolninger The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Roy was born on March 24, 1946 in Lancaster, SC, to the late John Carter and Nell Devinney Carter.

Roy was a member of McConnell’s First Baptist Church; he retired from Bowater as a mechanic and proudly served our country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Carter; his children Brad Carter (Michelle), April Wallace (Andy), and Carrie Wallace, along with his grandchildren; Henry Carter, Anna Carter, Donovan Wallace (Ardajia), Nathan Wallace, Colt Wallace, and Daisy Wallace. He is also survived by his great granddaughter; Danielle Wallace.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his siblings, Johnny Carter, Donald Carter, Bobby Carter and Jane Nunnery.
