Roger Gunnell Obituary

Mr. Roger Bernard Gunnell, age 74, of York, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Roger was born on January 5, 1951, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Carrol Edward Gunnell and Peggy Ann Carr Gunnell. He held a variety of roles throughout his career, including time with Carter Lumber, Blair Construction, and Anheuser-Busch. Outside of work, Roger found his greatest joy in fishing and fondly recalling his softball days.

He took great pride in a remarkable achievement: his participation in the Danville Claims Guiness Softball Game, which set a record as the longest softball game recorded—lasting an astonishing 90 hours, 3 minutes, and 7 seconds; 217 innings.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brothers, Steven H. Gunnell and C. Edward Gunnell, Jr.
