Robert Preston Bell, Jr.

Mr. Robert Preston Bell, Jr., age 89, of York, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Spring Oak in York.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Adnah Methodist Church, 1 Adnah Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A funeral service will follow the visitation with Reverend Angela Pleasants officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born on October 13, 1936, in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, Robert was the son of the late Robert Preston Bell, Sr. and Ethel Jones Bell. He was the devoted husband of Dorothy Irene Burns Bell. Robert dedicated 32 years to education, retiring as principal of Horry Elementary School after a distinguished career of service to students, teachers, and the community. Robert was a lifetime member of the Aynor Lions Club serving in the capacity of president and later as secretary/treasure. 

In addition to his loving wife, Irene, he is survived by his daughter, Marie Bell Mitchell (Bill); his son, Robert Preston Bell, III; his cherished grandchildren, Henry Mitchell (Amarillo) and Mary Lyn Barnette (Clay); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Abilene Mitchell and Beau Barnette.
