Reverend Marvin Ell Carson, 84, of Clover, SC passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 PM on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Clover First Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow the next day at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
Reverend Carson was born on April 13, 1937 in Bryson City, NC. He was the son of the late Paul Carson and Eva Cope Carson and was the widower of Shirley Marie Putnam Carson. Pastor Carson was an Evangelist for 7 years before he came to serve at Clover First Freewill Baptist Church for 47 years, he loved his church family. He had 45+ preachers to start their ministry under him and won thousands of souls to the Lord. He was an active senior member of the NC Piedmont Association. He was married to his wife, Shirley for 56 years before she went home to be with the Lord. He spent most of his time with his family whom he loved dearly and when he had a bit of free time, you would find him somewhere on the water catching fish. It was his favorite hobby outside of the church. Marvin, “Dad”, “Pawpaw”, “Pastor”, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Reverend Carson is survived by his sons, Mark Carson and Marvin E. Carson (Chris), grandchildren: Brentt, Marvin, Scott, Phillip, Marie, John Mark, Samuel, and Madison; nine great grandchildren, brother, Keith Carson and sister, Janette Pastula.
In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Carson Bolin, grandson, Joshua Bolin, and sister, Peggy Carson.
