Raymond Dean Welborn, Sr.

Mr. Raymond Dean Welborn, Sr. age 89, of York, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina.

Born on May 23, 1935, in Greenville, South Carolina; Raymond was the beloved son of the late Grover C. and Hassie Irene Mott Welborn and the widower of Mary Sue Foxx Welborn. Raymond was retired from Pharr Yarns.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 11 – 11:30 AM at Midway Baptist Church, 12984 Hwy 55 West York, SC.  The funeral service will immediately follow at the church officiated by Rev. Mark Dellinger. A private burial will be held later at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC

He is survived by his daughter Donna McCuen (Toney). And his siblings, Diane Turner, and William Welborn. Along with 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife; Raymond was preceded in death by his children Raymond Welborn, Jr, Sharon Johnson, Karen Wise and Jerry Welborn along with his grandsons Perry Faile, Jr. and Joey Faile. His siblings, Paul Welborn, Norman Welborn, Judy Phillips, Frances Mathis, Pete Welborn, and Lovadia Gunter.
