Mr. Peter Espina, age 63, of York, SC, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his home.
Peter took great pride in caring for his home, especially enjoying gardening and, more recently, home improvement projects. He was an avid cyclist, often riding his familiar circular route through the neighborhood, with a smile and a wave greeting neighbors along the way. Peter was a devoted history buff and cherished spending time with his human and feline loved ones.
Peter was born in Santiago, Chile, and moved to the United States at a young age, where he was raised. He was the beloved son of the late Arturo Espina and Patricia Borneman. Peter graduated from Winthrop University, where he met and fell in love with his best friend and future wife, Tricia. Together, Peter and Tricia shared 37 years of marriage and made their home in York County, South Carolina.
Peter dedicated his professional career to retail management, serving with commitment and integrity. Peter took pride in his work and believed deeply in doing things the right way, values that guided him throughout his career and left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia Espina, and his siblings, Marcia Salcedo, Sandra Harris, Denise Nelson Greeley, and Tony Nelson.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Peter will be held at Filbert Presbyterian PCA, 2066 Filbert Highway, York, South Carolina 29745, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4:00 PM, with Reverend Dr. Dave Hall officiating.
In memory of Peter and his immense love for all animals, memorial donations may be made to the York County Humane Society, 8177 Regent Parkway, Fort Mill, South Carolina 29715.
