Nita (Carroll) McGill

Mrs. Juanita “Nita” Carroll McGill, 93, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Wellmore of Tega Cay.

A memorial service celebrating Nita’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, located at 1184 N. Shiloh Rd., York, SC 29745. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. John White and Rev. Tom McPhail. The family will receive friends in the church’s Fellowship Hall following the service.

Nita was born on October 12, 1931, in Rock Hill, SC, to the late Charles “Esther” Carroll Sr. and Mamie Hyatt Carroll. She was the beloved wife of the late William “Bill” McGill Sr. and a devoted member of Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church. Nita dedicated much of her life to serving her community and retired as Deputy Clerk of Court for York County.

She is survived by her sons, Randy McGill (Sally) and Stephen McGill (Maggie); her grandchildren, Callie-Jane M. Britt (Walker), Bryan McGill, and Meg McGill (Katrin); and her great-grandchildren, Eli Britt, Banks Britt, Isaac Britt, Charlotte Britt, Nora McGill, and Will McGill. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Carroll Sutton (Joe), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Nita was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Sonny” Carroll Jr., and his wife, Pat.

Memorial contributions in Nita’s honor may be made to Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church (1184 N. Shiloh Rd., York, SC) or to Wellmore of Tega Cay (111 Wellmore Dr., Tega Cay, SC 29708).
