Ms. Mary L. Rau Stubbs, daughter of John M. and Helen Kirner Rau was born on August 22nd, 1926 at St. Joseph, MO. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 7th, 2024.
Mary received her elementary education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and high school at Sacred Heart Convent, both in St. Joseph, MO. On April 12th, 1947 she married Robert N. Stubbs at St. Mary’s Church in St. Joseph, MO. She was a homemaker until 1970 when she was employed at Osco Drugs as a drug clerk and pharmacy assistant. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, garden, fish and travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, John and Bill Rau; two sisters, Lucille Root and Elizabeth Cooper; and one granddaughter, Shannon Byous.
Mary is survived by her four children: Robert J. Stubbs (Vickie), Thomas R. Stubbs (Nancy), Kenneth J. Stubbs (Loretta), Kathy M. Davies (Bill); two sisters, Barbara Auxier (Jim), and Theresa Landers; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mary had belonged to Altar Society and PTA for years in St. Joseph, MO. She attended prayer services at Divine Savior Catholic Church in York, SC when healthy.
Rosary will be held at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC, on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at 6pm. Visitation with the family will follow until 8pm. The funeral service and Mass will be held the following day, Wednesday, at Divine Savior Catholic Church, 232 Herndon Ave. York, SC, at 9:30am. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC.
