Martha Phyllis Mabry, 99, passed away on January 25, 2024, in York, SC. Born in 1924, Phyllis was a loving wife to Marvin Mabry and a dedicated mother to Laura Kiser, Brent Mabry, and Pamela Mabry Jackson. She adored her role as a Nana and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church Ladies Parlor in York, SC on Monday, January 29, 2024. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Lakeview Memory Gardens, in York, SC with Rev. Nick Setzer officiating.
Phyllis had a fulfilling career as an Assistant Librarian in the York School District and cherished the friendships she made there. Phyllis enjoyed working with the Presbyterian women, gardening, and being surrounded by her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, SC, where she found solace and strength. She was recently honored by the Presbyterian Women with a lifetime membership.
Phyllis is survived by her children Laura Kiser (Tommy), Brent Mabry, (Pam) grandchildren Neil Jackson, Kristen Duncan, Andrew Kiser (Kat), great-grandchildren Ladd Jackson and Carleigh Jackson, sisters Nancy Bleckley (Jim) in Anderson, Gayle Sebastian in York, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin L. Mabry, daughter Pamela Mabry Jackson, son-in-law Bill Jackson, four brothers, and one sister.
In honor of Phyllis’s memory, contributions can be made to Riverview Hospice in Rock Hill, SC, or the First Presbyterian Church in York, SC. The family would like to express their gratitude to Bratton Funeral Home, to the staff and residents of Carolina Gardens for their friendship and care, to Visiting Angels and A New Leaf, to Riverview hospice staff and to the many family friends for their support during this difficult time.
Martha Phyllis Mabry will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her love for her family and her dedication to her community will be remembered and cherished forever.
