Marie (Payne) Ramsey

Lois “Marie” Ramsey, 63, of Sharon, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 26, 1962, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret White Payne and Thomas Howard Payne, and her brothers, Clifford Payne and Joseph Payne.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Gene Ramsey; her daughter Meagan Ramsey Briggs and son-in-law Steven Chad Briggs; her son Jacob Eugene Ramsey and daughter-in-law Laura Caruso Ramsey; her cherished grandsons Cade and Nolan Briggs; her sister Carol Payne Stewart; her brother Buddy Payne; and her faithful dog Otis, who rarely left her side.

A longtime member of Unity Baptist Church, Marie was deeply devoted to her faith and her church family, especially enjoying her time serving on Wednesday nights. She was known for her incredible kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family.

Marie found joy in the simple pleasures – spending time with her grandsons, curling up with a good book, enjoying the companionship of her dog Otis, and visiting the beach, a place that brought her peace. Fittingly, she was able to visit the shore one final time before her journey on earth came to an end.

Marie’s legacy is one of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless others who were blessed by her presence.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday August 10, 2025 at Unity Baptist Church, located at 2300 Irene Bridge Rd. Hickory Grove, SC with Reverend Alan Peeler officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sharon, SC. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the burial.
