Ms. Margaret Louise Queen Darty, age 87, of York, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Highway, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, December 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at Central Baptist Church, 110 Ross Cannon Street, York, SC 29745. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
Margaret was born on June 23, 1938, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Queen and Ethel Yarborough Queen, and the devoted widow of Alvin Lee Darty, Sr. She was a faithful and longtime member of Central Baptist Church of York, where her love for her faith and church family was evident to all who knew her.
Margaret became a Christian at an early age and devoted her life spreading the love of Jesus to her family, friends, and anyone she met. The following passage was marked in her bible and she wrote above it, “This is my desire” … Philippians 3:8-9 “And I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung that I may win Christ. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is though the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”
Margaret is survived by her precious family, including her daughters, Cathy Clinton (Tim), Cindy Ford (Mike), Jodie Reid, Libby McMahan (Michael), Patricia Shuford (Roger), and Michelle Dover; and her son, Alvin Darty, Jr. She was a proud grandmother to eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, with one great-great-grandchild expected.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie Eckard and Nell Smart; her brother, Clarence Queen; her grandson, Michael Dover; and her son-in-law, Steve Reid.
