Lawrence Christopher Brooks, age 44, of York, SC passed away on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 after a short battle with an infection from small cell lung cancer.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 at Liberty Church, 410 Blessed Hope Rd, and other times at the family’s home. The funeral service will be held the following day at 2pm at Liberty Church with Pastor Matt Burrell officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Lawrence was born on August 3rd, 1979 in York County. He was the son of Chris Brooks and Martha Rose Childers. He worked as a lineman for the City of Rock Hill for 23 years and was a member of Liberty Church of York. Lawrence held his family close to his heart. He enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with them. He was a very dedicated husband and father. Coaching was Lawrence’s passion. He’s coached numerous sports; softball was his favorite. He thought the world of his softball girls.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence is survived by his wife, Jennifer Morrow Brooks; his children, Chris Brooks (Sophia Kuhn), Peyton Brooks; and his siblings: Michelle Brakefield (Greg), Sherry Leveille (Norman), Tim Ellis (Maggy), and Mike Ellis. He is also survived by his stepfather, Bobby Childers; his mother and father-in-law, Janet and Jimmy Morrow; his sister-in-law, Joanie Merk (Grady), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Jody Latimer; his step mother, Joyce Ann Nance Brooks; his niece, Shelby Brakefield; and his nephew, Jesse Ellis.
