Laura McKnight Obituary

Laura Ann Montgomery McKnight, age 76, of Smyrna SC entered her eternal home with the Lord on January 23, 2026.  Laura was born in York County, SC on June 24, 1949 and was the daughter of the late Harvey Morris and Virgie Howell Montgomery of Sharon, SC.

Laura was the wife and sweetheart of Jack McKnight for 56 years and the loving Mama to Shane (Ginny) McKnight and Beth (William) Faulkner, a devoted MeeMaw to Ivey McKnight, John (Cameron) and Liz Faulkner and the late Will Faulkner.  She was also a doting ‘Great’ MeeMaw to Braelynn McKnight.

Laura served her Lord and Savior most diligently to her family who she checked in on daily.  She was a member of Smyrna ARP Church in Smyrna where she was active in the Faith & Joy Sunday School Class and also attended bible fellowship with the Women of the Church bible study class.

Laura gained many friends from her early life in Sharon then later attended Hickory Grove High School and York High School where she graduated.  She went on to attend college in the laboratory technician field at Central Piedmont in Charlotte and advanced her degree at York Technical College. Laura was a lab technician for 40+ years most memorable at Divine Savior Hospital in York, SC until its closing but retired from Quest Diagnostics in Rock Hill.

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her siblings Doris Youngblood, Ed Montgomery, Jane Hoffman, Bill Montgomery and Polly Bolin.  Laura was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law and dear friend Lavinia Bolin and her beloved grandson Will Faulkner.

Laura was known by those closest to her for her beautiful smile, her great love for her family and her loyalty to her family, friends and community.  She had a great sense of humor most often directed at poking fun of her family, and a love for watching the games on the weekends with Jack whether it be football, baseball, or women’s softball.  She was known by her closest confidants for her deep love and affection for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who we know received her with open arms.

The family will receive friends at Smyrna ARP Church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, January 30, 2026. A Celebration of her life will begin at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary. The service will conclude with a graveside service in Smyrna ARP Church Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be given to Smyrna ARP Church, 3141 Legion Rd. Smyrna, SC 29743.
