Kevin Dale Burgess

Kevin Dale Burgess, age 54, of Taylors, SC passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC 29745. The funeral will begin at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Wallace Tinsley officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens of York. There will be an informal gathering for friends and family following the graveside service at Todd Burgess’s home, 341 Ridge Rd. Blacksburg, SC 29702.

Kevin was born on July 25, 1970 in York, SC. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School, class of 1988, but also attended York and Union High Schools. After graduation, Kevin joined the South Carolina ARMY National Guard and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a diehard South Carolina Gamecock and Green Bay Packers fan and was proud to let everyone know. He enjoyed being outdoors, most of the time either hunting, fishing, or riding his Harley-Davidson.

Kevin's spirit was contagious, the way he was able to draw everyone in and together is unmatched. He lit up everyone's lives around him with his bright smile and warm laugh. If he wasn't on two wheels or at a ball game, or in a deer stand, you could find him dancing in the kitchen.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Catherine Barilovits Burgess; his children, Kaitlynne Dayle Hope, Payton Theresa Burgess (Bryce Spurlin), and Gunner Blake Burgess; his father, Everette Burgess; his granddaughter, Lilianne Theresa Spurlin; his brother, Everette Todd Burgess and his cousin that was more of a brother, Marvin Strain.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Theresa Greene Burgess.
