Katie (Blackwood) Puckett

Mrs. Katie Blackwood Puckett, age 29, of York, SC, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Atrium Health Pineville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Highway, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.

Katie was born on March 8, 1997, in York County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Gina Buchanan Blackwood and the late Darrin Henry Blackwood.

Katie was a dedicated First-Grade Teacher at Riverwalk Academy, where she poured her heart into the lives and education of her students. She truly loved her school children and found great joy in helping them learn, grow, and discover their potential. Her caring heart, patience, and passion for teaching made a lasting impact on the many young lives she touched.

Outside of the classroom, Katie had a deep love for animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She loved trips to the beach, relaxing by the pool, and soaking up the sunshine. Above all else, however, her family was her greatest joy and most treasured blessing. Katie loved spending time with those she loved, whether gathered together for a cookout, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying one another's company. Her children were especially precious to her, and the love she had for her family was evident in everything she did.

Katie will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, her passion for teaching, and the joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. Though her time with us was far too short, the love and memories she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, students, and all who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Katie is survived by her husband, Micheal “Luke” Scott Puckett; her precious children, Eli Henry Gregory, Easton Alexander Gregory, and Sutton Kate Puckett; her mother, Gina Blackwood; her brother, Jeremy Lee Blackwood (Lacey); and her sister, Amber Blackwood Miner (Dustin).

Also surviving are her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frankie Jean and Michael Scott Puckett; her maternal grandmother, Patsy Buchanan; her maternal grandfather, John Dale Buchanan (Patricia); her paternal grandmother, Frances Blackwood; her sisters-in-law, Tressie Gregory, Brooklyn Puckett, and Sara Puckett; and her brother-in-law, Joe Puckett (Kenzie).
