Katherine (Bolin) Montgomery

Mrs. Katherine Bolin Montgomery, age 88, of York, SC passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 385 Woodlawn Street in Sharon, SC with Rev. Paul Noe officiating. The family will receive friends afterward at the cemetery.

Katherine was born in York County on May 1, 1935 to the late Dan and Della Bolin, and was retired from Rock Hill School District after 30 years as an elementary teacher. She continued her dedication to children and her Christian faith by being a teacher in the Released Time Bible Education program in York School District One.  She served God, her family, and her community through her life-long membership and active participation in the Baptist church.  Katherine was also a caretaker for those in need, especially her family members.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Lewis Montgomery; her daughters, Carol Podmore (Richard) of York, SC and Danette Lovingood (Jeff) of Gaffney, SC; her grandchildren John Podmore (Lauren), Elizabeth Podmore (Eric Rice), Katherine Podmore (Brian Smith), Matthew Lovingood (Blythe), and Mark Lovingood (Ashley); and great-grandchildren Ryleigh Podmore and Levi, Macy, Lane, and Mabry Lovingood.  She is also survived by sisters Frances Childers and Claudette Hogue.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her brother Woodrow Bolin and her infant grandson Jordan Lovingood.  

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
