Karen (Hambright) Welchel

Karen Hambright Welchel, age 75, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday August 24, 2026 at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 Anderson Rd. S. Rock Hill, SC 29730. The funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation with Rev/Dr Ron Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Karen was born on August 21, 1950 in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late David Cessley Hambright and Elizabeth Mae Rippy Hambright. She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

Karen is survived by her husband Clarence Gordon Welchel. Also, her nieces, Melissa Mosley and Robin Benton along with numerous great- nieces and great-nephews.

 In addition to her parents Karen was preceded in death by her sister Sheila Hambright Dagnall.
