Julia Mae (Good) Howe

Mrs. Julia “Judy” Mae Good Howe, age 88, of Sharon, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18th, 2026, surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of James Edward Howe for 67 years. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:45 am on Tuesday, July 21st, at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3852 Woodlawn Street, Sharon, SC 29742.  The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Reverend Keith Freeman officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery

Born in Sharon, SC Judy was the daughter of the late Brown Wylie Good and Rena Goforth Good. She graduated from Hickory Grove High School and attended Cosmetology School in Charlotte, NC., and was a beautician for 62 years. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kim Williams, and Stan Howe (Kim) along with her grandchildren, Jennifer Howe, and Mary Beth Newton (Whit).

In addition to her parents Judy was preceded in death by her grandson, Shane Williams and her siblings, Lunette Plaxico, Joanne McGraw, Cline Good, and David Good.

Judy was so much to so many. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews as well as all of the neighborhood children, taking care of them whenever they graced her doorstep. She not only gave to the children she was a blessing to her community too. On her days off she would visit the sick and shut-ins providing them food, friendship, and spiritual guidance. During all of the holidays and other special occasions, Judy would cook feasts for friends and family and be the hostess with the mostest, never sitting down and always hugging, laughing and loving the whole time. She was dedicated to her church and served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She did not miss a Sunday unless something was terribly wrong because she loved her church and her Lord and Savior, serving Him wholeheartedly. One of Judy’s favorite past times was beautifying her yard with gorgeous flowers. At one time she had the most amazing flower beds around. She even had a “secret garden” in the back yard where she would go sit and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. Finally, there was “Judy’s Beauty Shop”, this was where true joy and fun happened (but never any gossip). Not only did she give super economical haircuts and perms, Judy always provided her customers/friends coffee or tea and any kind of snack she had available. It was more like a social outing than a beauty shop and Judy loved every moment of it. There were some days she would begin work at 6:00am and work until dark. She loved her customers and did anything for them. She was truly a warrior for Christ and there is no doubt that Jesus welcomed her saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
