Joyce (Henson) Burns

Mrs. Joyce Henson Burns, age 87 of York, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill, SC.

A memorial service, hosted by Tirzah Presbyterian Church, will be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Carrie Blanchard. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Tirzah Presbyterian Church is located at 180 Tirzah Rd. York, SC 29745.

Joyce was born on June 12, 1937 in Lambert, MS. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Henson and Corrine Clark Henson. She was a long-time active member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Aubrey L. Burns; her daughters, Barbara Deese, Janet Johnson (Ray), Debbie Starnes (Roy), and Hope Moore (Kevin); her grandchildren: Corrie Alewine (Tripp), Matthew Deese, Holden Starnes (Hannah), Breanna Starnes (Clayton), and Sarah-Faye Gostel (Robbie); and her great grandchildren: Justice Pope, Drew Pope, Tyler Pope, Abby Deese, and Nora Starnes. Also surviving are her sisters, Bessie Ashe (Tony) and Judy White.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Dillingham and her brothers, Edward Henson, Charles Henson, Jim Henson, and Leslie Henson.
