John Edward Jones

John “Johnnie” Edward Jones, 85, of Rock Hill, SC passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Matt Burrell officiating.

Johnnie was born on September 3, 1935 in York, SC. He was the son of the late John Davis Jones and Elsie Marvelena C. Jones. He served seven years in the National Guard, retired after 23 years from Duke Energy as Nuclear Turbine Mechanic, worked three years for Securitas Securities, and several years for York County Maintenance Recycle Centers. He was a dedicated farmer and fisherman.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah Starnes-Lear Jones, daughter, Marlena Kay Jones of the home, sister, Kate J. McFalls, brothers, Bobby Jones of Heath Springs, SC, Marty Jones and a special nephew Brian Carl Jones, of York, SC.

In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his step daughter, Christina Viola Lear of the home, brothers: Dewey Mason Jones and Ernest Carl Jones of York, SC; sisters: Mary Elizabeth Jones of York, SC, Maggie “Peg” J. Wells of Supply, NC, Elsie Marie J. Sanders of Smyrna, GA.
