John Preston Houser

Mr. John “Johnny” Preston Houser, age 78, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy., York, SC 29745.

The funeral service will be  at 10:00 a. m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 in the chapel of Bratton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny McKown and Pastor Dave Spataro officiating. Burial to follow at Beersheba Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 130 S Beersheba Rd, Clover, SC 29710.

Johnny was born on April, 14 1948, in Lawndale, NC to the late  William Hampton Houser and Edna Marie Bynum Houser. He was a loving Father and Grandfather. Although he was a man of few words, his love was always shown and felt by his family. Every memory, every talk and every action was heartfelt. He was the owner/operator of Houser’s Garage for over 50 years where he poured his love into every long day, every engine repaired and every person he helped. His big heart and steady kindness was felt by all. He was loved by all who knew him.

Johnny is survived by his daughters; Sharon McKown (Kenny) and Beverly Fletcher (Barry), his grandchildren; Bailey McKown (Michael), TJ Peeler (Hailey), Britney Wynn (Carson), Josh McKown, Jordan Fletcher (Annabelle), Hailey Brooks (Trevor) along with his great grandchildren; William James Peeler “Willie”, Sebastian, Atlas, Parker Fletcher, Gus, Theo, Marlowe Brooks. He also leaves behind his special friend; Ellen Weatherly.

In addition to his parents; he was predeceased by his brother Bruce Houser.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Johnny’s name to Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House; 2275 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
