John Hoke, III Obituary

Mr. John Ralph “Johnny” Hoke, III, age 73, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Born on February 14, 1952, in Salisbury, NC, Johnny was the son of the late John R. Hoke, Jr. and Barbara Grey Norton Hoke. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Johnny grew up in First Presbyterian Church of York where it was here that he found his love and desire to become an Eagle Scout. Johnny enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course or in the kitchen or by a grill. He had a passion for cooking and was an excellent chef.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn R. Hoke; his brother, Tom Hoke (Barbara); nephews, Grey Hoke (Madison) and Jacob Hoke; niece, Amy Painter (Marcus); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Hoke and Betty Jo Browder.

A service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be announced at a later date.
