Janet (Glenn) Blackwell

Mrs. Janet Glenn Blackwell, age 79, of York, SC passed away on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, February 26th, 2024 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC, and other times at her son’s home at 610 N. Shiloh Rd. York, SC. The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 1184 N. Shiloh Rd. York, SC, at 2 pm with Reverend Tom McPhail and Reverend Dr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Janet was born on August 24th, 1944 in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late Harry Stanton Glenn and Myrtle Carroll Glenn. She was a member of Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church in York, SC. Janet spent her life in service to the countless soldiers and their families whom she came in contact with. She was clearly a role model as to what an Army wife should be.

Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The loving family whom she leaves behind is her husband, LTG. (Ret) Gene Blackwell; her son, Paul Eugene Blackwell, Jr. (Diana); her grandchildren: Caitlyn Becker (Shawn), Tripp Blackwell (Mattie), Caleb Corbitt, and Taylor Blackwell; her great grandchildren, Valerie Becker, Jordyn Evans, and Atlas Becker; and her sister, Ellen Jones (Kenny).

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings: Bobby Glenn, Melba Jones, Frank Glenn, Doris Smith, and Aquilla Comer.
