Obituary
James Harold Hogue, age 94, of York, S.C. peacefully passed away with his family at his side, on Monday, August 28th, 2023, at White Oak Manor in York.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10:00 am at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church, 1130 Philbeck Road, York, SC. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the same location with Rev. Dan Sullivan and Rev. Dr. Eddie Usher officiating with burial immediately following services in the Church cemetery.
Mr. Hogue lived his entire life in York County, living more than 70 years at his current address. He was employed at Rock Hill Printing Company, 20 years and Cannon Mills, York for 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially loving to fish and hunt. He also loved working in his garden and mowing grass. One of his grandsons remarked “He’s now in a boat or on a tractor.”
He was the son of the late James Campbell and Catherine Yarborough Hogue of the Cotton Belt Community and was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Elizabeth Ramsey (39 years) and his second wife, Martha Gilfillan (22 years) and his sister, Geraldine Hogue Thomas.
He is survived by his children, Cathie H. McCarley (Lexington, SC), Patricia H. Quinn (Stan)of York, and Robbin Harold Hogue (Julie) of the Cotton Belt Community; five grandchildren, Kellee Melton (Brad) of Lexington, SC, Kyle Quinn (Brook), Travis Quinn (Jenni) of Cotton Belt, Jason Hogue (Jessica)of Rock Hill, SC, and Kristy Hogue McCoy (Tommy) of Cotton Belt and Tracy Morton Miskelly (Jesse) of York, SC; nine great grandchildren, Kaiden Quinn, Drake Quinn of Cotton Belt, Jamison Melton, Carley Melton of Lexington, SC, Henry Campbell Quinn of Cotton Belt, Landon Hogue, Nora Grace Hogue of Rock Hill, Maddison Hogue, Bree McCoy of Cotton Belt and Emily Miskelly and Hayes Miskelly of York; chosen great- grandchildren, Taylor Rowell (Larry) and Bailee McAbee (Jacob) of York, SC.
