Mr. James Howard Hodnett (Jim), 73, passed away at Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Taylorsville, NC on July 25, 2022.
Mr. Hodnett was born in Durham, NC, on August 30, 1948 to the late Samuel Ayres Hodnett, Sr. and Ann Garrard Hodnett and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was a retired banker with First Citizens in Rock Hill, and York, SC and an active member of the Rotary Club. He helped to organize many projects and activities in which he took an active part. He was also a member of York Crustbreakers and Group XX social clubs. He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of York and enjoyed singing bass in the choir. When football season came around he actively pulled for the University of Tennessee Volunteers with wife and friends, while wearing the orange and white colors in declaration of support. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and barbecuing on the grill.
Mr. Hodnett is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pat G. Hodnett, his step-children, Tish Guerry, Jane Guerry, LeGrand (Chip) Guerry, IV, his step-grandchildren, LeGrand Guerry, V, and Caroline Lee Guerry. He is also survived by his siblings, Sam (Nancy) Hodnett, Elizabeth (Jim) Addison, and Susan (Ed) Gibb.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 10 West Liberty Street, York, SC, with Rev. Nick Setzer officiating. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church after the service.
