James William Dover

Mr. James William Dover, 88, of York, SC passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, with Rev. Cecil Dover officiating.

Born on February 18, 1937, in York, James was the son of the late Sally Mae Snipes. He was married to the late Gloria Turner Dover for 46 years. James was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his children, Christal Hepler (Troy), Tammy Knight, Jamie Dover, Michelle Feaster (Darrell) and Tennille Dover. Also surviving are his siblings, Kay Maughmor (Robert), Russell Dover (Wilma) and Patty Campbell (Sonny); eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three godchildren, Pam Moss, Sissy Workman and Butch Workman Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; his son-in-law, Troy Zane Knight; grandson, Steven Moses Jr.; and siblings, Dorothy Workman, Bud Dover, and Pete Dover.
