Jack Austin Thompson

Mr. Jack Austin Thompson, 83, of Clover, SC passed away on Wednesday, July 30th at Atrium Health in Kings Mountain, NC.

A visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, August 8th, 2025 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC followed by a graveside service at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC with the Reverend Mark Dellinger officiating.

Jack was born on November 4th, 1941 in Cherokee County, SC. He was the son of the late Grady Austin Thompson and Essie Rippy Thompson. Jack was a Clemson Tiger fan. He enjoyed all things outdoors, including fishing, tending to his bee hives and was an avid gardener who took pride in sharing his gardening bounty yearly.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sue Spencer Thompson, and his children, Suzanne Thompson Erwin (Wesley), Troy Austin Thompson and Tracy Thompson McCarter. In addition, his grandchildren, Ben Erwin (Olivia), Hunter Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Casey Thompson, Kyle McCarter, Cameron McCarter and his great grandchildren Tally McCarter and Ella Mae McCarter. Also, his brother, Jimmy Thompson (Gwen).

 In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Thompson, Jerry Thompson and Alice Thompson Broome.
