Mr. Horace E. “Buddy” Privette, Jr., age 77, of York, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3852 Woodlawn St., Sharon, SC 29742. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Pastor Max Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
Buddy was born on June 14, 1948, in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late Horace “Bud” Privette, Sr. and Virginia Funderburk Privette. After graduating from high school, Buddy enlisted in the United States Army. He later worked for Bowater in Rock Hill and was a faithful member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.
Buddy had a deep love for animals and was known for taking in strays throughout his life. Above all, his greatest joy came from his family. He adored his grandchildren, who were truly the center of his world.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Garrity Privette; daughters, Melissa Shillinglaw (Will) and Addison Privette; step-children, Autumn Garrity-Johnson and Raven Garrity; and grandchildren, Jackson Privette, Hazel Shillinglaw, Dixon Shillinglaw, Wyatt Shillinglaw, and Aili Jeffries. Also surviving are his sister, Nancy Yarborough, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hallman.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his son, Horace E. “Trey” Privette III, and his sisters, Pat Ramsey and Jean Monteith.
