Harvey Virgil Cates, Jr

Harvey Virgil Cates, Jr, 73, of Sharon, SC passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Brad Vassey officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery at 12:15 PM on Thursday.

Harvey was born on April 7, 1948 in Gastonia, NC. He was the son of the late Harvey Virgil Cates, Sr. and Lizzie Cantrell Cates Eaton. Harvey was a veteran of the US ARMY and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in York, SC.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Loretta Diane Ramsaur Cates, children: Eddie Cates (Amanda) of Raleigh, NC , and Amy Bailey (Tut) of Rock Hill, SC,  grandchildren Matty, Camille, Nora, and Charlotte Bailey. His brother Charles Cates, of Cramerton, NC and sister Evelyn Eaton of Gastonia, NC.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby Cates, Gary Cates, Johnny Mac Eaton and sister Charlotte Craig.
