Gwen Benoy Obituary

 Eva Gwen Chaney Benoy, 84, of Rock Hill, SC passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021. Born in Chester, South Carolina, she graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended Columbia College. She retired from Blow Molding and Plastics and also worked for Celanese Celriver in Rock Hill for a number of years.

 

Gwen had a passion and exceptional talent for crocheting and knitting, and gifted many relatives, friends, and acquaintances with a throw, tablecloth, or other unique handiwork creation.

 

Each month Gwen looked forward to having lunch with members of her high school graduating class. She enjoyed watching old television show reruns and movies, as well as, sports programs, especially racing. Each fall she enjoyed a trip to the mountains.

 

Preceded in death by her parents, Henry Gibson and Evelyn Hamiter Chaney, and her husband Roger Benoy, she is survived by her daughters, Vicki Stewart, Marianne Borders (Edwin), Fran Kaminski (Joe), and Jennifer Tucker(David); two sisters, Karen C. Jones and Jane Chaney; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and 3 nephews.

 

A celebration of life service will be held November 6, 2021 @ 3:00 pm, Faith Rising Community Church, 434 Museum Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brattonfuneralhome.com. Bratton Funeral Home in York, SC is serving the family.
