Gloria Jean (West) Puckett

Ms. Gloria Jean West Puckett, age 84, of Rock Hill, SC, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at York Church of God, 201 Charlotte St. York, SC 29745. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at York Church of God, with Pastor David Byrd and Pastor Chad Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Gloria was born on June 13, 1941, in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late Julius “J.W.” Wade West and Ethel Myrtle Demby West, and was the devoted wife of the late Larry Sidney Puckett, Sr. Gloria was a faithful member of York Church of God and found great joy in spending time with her family—especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was precious and she raised fine children – her strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her. – Proverbs 31:25-28

She is survived by her son, Larry “Sid” Sidney Puckett, Jr. (Anna); her daughter, Teresa P. Payne (James “Buddy”); her grandchildren, Bryce Puckett, Shea Payne Ayers (Lee), Brandon Payne (Danielle), and Paige Payne Carnes (Cam); her great-grandchildren, Nathan Ayers, Seth Ayers, Jett Ayers, Reese Payne, Charlie Payne, and Hendrix Carnes. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Bundy, and numerous well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy West and Sylvia Garrison.
