Glenn Smarr

Mr. Robert Glenn Smarr, age 86, of Hickory Grove, SC passed away at home and surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, May 13th, 2024 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday at Salem Presbyterian Church, 1907 Hickory Grove Rd. Gaffney, SC, with Reverend Corey Lanier and Reverend Toby Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Glenn was born on March 31st, 1938 in Hickory Grove, SC. He was the son of the late Wilburn Arrowood Smarr and Christine Bratton Smarr. He was a faithful Elder and Deacon of Salem Presbyterian Church and served on the Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 57 years.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Margie Smith Smarr; his children, James Robert Smarr (Lori), Patricia Craig (D.L.), and Danny Smarr (Joyce); his grandchildren: Amy Hammond (Crockett), Tiffany Brown, Joni Timmons (Tyler), Ashley Cossin (Josh), Frances Taylor (Justin), Brandon Smarr, Meredith Wilkerson (Josh), Adam Wray (Ashley), Brad White, and Brock White (Kelsee); and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Neil Smarr (Carolyn) and his sister-in-law, Lucy Smarr.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Gene Smarr; his grandsons, Michael Smarr and Eric Smarr; his brothers, Harold Smarr and Wilburn Earl Smarr; his sister, Mary McKown; his sister-in-law, Glenda Smarr; and his brother-in-law, Mason McKown.
