Geraldine (Snipes) Goforth

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerri” Snipes Goforth, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Rock Hill Post Acute Care Center.

Born on July 9, 1938, in Gastonia, NC, Gerri was the beloved daughter of the late H. B. Snipes, Sr and Edith Ammons Snipes Whitener. She was the devoted wife of the late James “Jim” Andrew Goforth for 66 years. A compassionate and dedicated Coronary Care Registered Nurse, Gerri spent her career caring for others. In her free time, she found joy in reading and singing hymns. She was a faithful member of Oakdale Presbyterian Church in Clover, SC where she served as Elder and Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir.

Gerri leaves behind a loving family who cherished her deeply. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Goforth Sandifer (Wayne) and Lisa Anne Goforth; her grandchildren, Lena Sandifer and Michael Sandifer (Sarah); and her great-grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth Sandifer and Aaron James Sandifer; who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Danny Whitener (Janice), and her brother-in-law, Tommy Watts and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gerri was preceded in death by her stepfather, Rev. A. H. Whitener, and her siblings, Edith Long, Willie Lunsford, Louise Sistare, James “Bud” Snipes, (Peggy Watts) and Hubert Snipes.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:00pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 12585 State Hwy 55, Clover, SC 29710. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm with Reverend Lisa Goforth, Reverend Tom McPhail, and Reverend Den Parker officiating.
