George Clarence Covington,75, of Blacksburg, SC, passed away at Atrium Health Medical Center in Pineville, NC, on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McConnells, SC, at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Chip McArthur and Rev. Benjamin Glaser officiating. The family encourages attendees to bring a chair for the service for their comfort.
George was born on September 12, 1946, in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late George Clarence Covington, Sr. and Dora Adeline Carothers. He was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church in America in McConnells, SC, and was a veteran of the US ARMY National Guard.
George is survived by his wife Barbara Wyatt Covington, his son George Clarence “Clay” Covington, III (Angela), and daughters Beth Leigh Covington and Katherine Covington Hagy; his brothers Mitchell “Mike” Covington (Judy), William “Bill” Covington (Peggy), and Samuel “Sam” Covington (Joyce); as well as his grandchildren Macy Hagy, Liam Covington, Kellan Covington, and his step-grandchild, Aliah Hagy.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Roger Hagy; sisters, Lucille Copeland and Judy Rodgers, and brothers, Cecil Covington and Walter Covington.
