Fred Crawford Sr.

HICKORY GROVE Fred C. Crawford, 79, of 2225 Sawmill Road died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Rev. Owen Duncan will be officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. Fred was a son of the late Roy Crawford and Vada Heller Crawford. He was the widower of Janet Todd Crawford. Fred was a member at Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. He retired from Wiley Brothers after 40 years as a sandblaster. Fred loved his family and above all else the Lord. He loved model airplanes and cars, Nascar, and his CB where he was known as "Sandman". He is survived by six daughters, Becky Byrum of Hickory Grove, SC, Debbie Stephens of Liberty, SC, Fredda Lingerfelt of York, SC, Brenda Birle of Clover, SC, Vareda Hisey of Hickory Grove, SC, Melanie Taylor of Greer, SC, four sons, Fred C Crawford, Jr of Hickory Grove, SC, Roy Crawford of York, SC, David Crawford of Blacksburg, SC, Todd Crawford of Kershaw, SC, four brothers, Jamie Crawford of Anderson, SC, Darrell Crawford of Phoenix City, AL, Haskell Crawford of Belton, SC, Jerry Crawford of Greenville, SC, two sisters, Martha Pacifico of Danville, VA, and Faye Chapman of Chedder, SC, 33 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Fred is preceded in death by brother, Buddy Crawford, and grandchildren, Clint Byrum, JR McMillan, and Summer Crawford. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
