Frances Marie (Hartsoe) Howe

Frances Marie Hartsoe Howe passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born May 27, 1932, to the late Wade Hampton Hartsoe and Florence Grace White Hartsoe in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Frances graduated from York High School in 1950. She served as class vice president and was a member of the yearbook and newspaper staff. She was also elected "most popular" and "best looking" by her classmates. In addition, she was crowned "Miss York" and represented the City as "Miss Christmas Princess" in the Charlotte, North Carolina Carousel Parade.

She retired from Celanese Corporation as a Production Planner after 36 years of service.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as Secretary and Treasurer and a member of the Administrative Council, Finance Committee, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, and a member of The Trinity Travelers.  She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Literacy Society.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband of 71 years, John Newman Howe, Sr, her son Anthony Wade Howe, and six brothers and three sisters.  She is survived by her beloved sister, Arbutus White, of York.  Her daughter Cindy Howe Summersett, of York, and her two sons John Newman Howe, II (Amy Howe) of Birmingham, AL, and Jody Scott Howe  of York.  Her granddaughters Ann Marie Bolin, Melanie Bolin Roberts (Jason Roberts), Katy Elizabeth Bolin, Olivia Patterson Howe Ron (Tom Ron), Grace Najim Howe, and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist Parlor from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Tony Adams officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
