Floyd McDaniel

August 2, 1943 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 78)


Floyd McDaniel, 78, of Hickory Grove, SC passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 peacefully at his home and surrounded by his loving family.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Hickory Grove, SC. The Reverends Mike Goodwin and Roger Ham will be officiating the graveside service. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at Hickory Grove Church of God following the graveside service.

Floyd was born on August 2, 1943 in Cowpens, SC. He was the son of the late Marvin Miller McDaniel and Mary Phillips McDaniel and was the widower of Claudia McDaniel. Floyd was retired and was a volunteer fireman for Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Department for over 45 years and also a driver for the volunteer rescue squad. He was a craftsman, always willing to lend a helping hand when someone needed a porch swing or picnic table built. He was a member of Hickory Grove Church of God and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae Canupp McDaniel, daughter, Lisa McDaniel Vaughn (Chad) of Hickory Grove, SC, son, Floyd Michael McDaniel of the home, grandchildren, Ancarson Plaxco, Madison Plaxco, Callie Kaplan (Doug), great grandchildren, Jaxton Jolley, Sophie Plaxco, brother, Jimmy Dean McDaniel, and sister, Alice McDaniel Nichols (Jimmy).

In addition to his parents and first wife, Floyd was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd McDaniel and John William McDaniel.
