Elnora (Cook) Nivens

Mrs. Elnora Cook Nivens, age 92, of York, SC passed away at Piedmont Medical Center on Sunday, June 16th, 2024.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Friday, June 21st, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Liberty St. York, SC, in the Church Sanctuary. The funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor Nick Setzer officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.

Elnora was born on October 8th,1931 in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Ben Cook and Mary Jane Wilkerson Cook and was the widow of Shell H. Nivens, Jr. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and retired from textiles. She loved caring for her tomato plants and sewing but her precious joys came from her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Elnora is survived by her son, Kenneth Nivens (Kay) and her sister, Josie Bowman along with her grandchildren; Kenna Urso (Tyler) and Chase Nivens (Janice). She is also survived by her 3 great grandchildren; Nora Nivens, Emma Nivens and Eli Nivens.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elnora was preceded in death by her sisters, Ola Marett, Wilma Millsaps, Nancy Cook, Jeanette Cook, and her brothers, Bobby Cook and Roy Cook.
