Ellen Louise (Lou) Goode Scoggins passed away on August 26, 2021 in Bradenton, Florida. Born February 18, 1924 in Blacksburg, South Carolina to Gamewell Lee Goode and Lois Austell Goode. She graduated from Blacksburg High School and Winthrop College in 1944. She worked for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland for three years prior to marrying John Robert Scoggins of Smyrna, South Carolina in 1949. Mrs. Scoggins taught at Hickory Grove High School and York Comprehensive High School for twenty-two years. She was a member of Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton where she served as a Deacon, Dorcus volunteer, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a devoted wife for 56 years and loving mother of four children, John Robert Scoggins (Laura), Ellen Scoggins Kindred (Tony), Janet Scoggins Brittain and Ernest Lee (Chip) Scoggins, 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Her 97 years were filled with her passion for family, faith, friends and Clemson Football.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 4th, at 2:00 pm, at Smyrna Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3141 Legion Road, Smyrna, South Carolina. Masks required.
